New York City-based Production Company Announces “America Meet World,”
Global Video Contest for International Comedians to Break into U.S. Market
Submissions for America Meet World are accepted online (americameetworld.com) from 9 October to 10 November 2013.
New York, NY (26 August 2013) – Single Palm Tree Productions seeks to find the best comedy the world has to offer. From 9 October through 10 November 2013, comedians, filmmakers and comedy writers in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are invited to submit their stand-up, sketch, satire or reality comedy videos to the competition for a chance to win a sit-down meeting with a top senior executive (TBA) in the U.S. entertainment industry.
Through the combination of a public voting phase and a panel of expert judges five finalists will be selected to work with the Single Palm Tree production teams to further develop their videos for the U.S audience. The expert judging panel includes:
- Rebecca Paoletti , former Head of Video at Yahoo! North America and CEO of CakeWorks
- Tim Rosta , Senior Vice President, E! Entertainment Network
- Baratunde Thurston , CEO & Co-Founder of Cultivated Wit, former Digital Director of The Onion ; and
- John Vorhaus , best-selling author of The Comic Toolbox: How to be Funny Even if You're Not
Each of the five finalist’s final video will be unveiled at a major showcase event during the highly influential SXSW Festival (Austin, TX) in March 2014. The winning video submission will be determined based on which video has the most views after the SXSW showcase.
